Four students from four schools across New York, New Jersey, and Korea are creating with recycled nylon and Korean cultural heritage.
Cultural context
SEPTNY reused recycled nylon from an earlier bag design and paired it with the Bicheon imagery of the Sacred Bell. The combination makes the project’s premise tangible: material value and cultural memory can both disappear when no one chooses to keep them in circulation.
“Recycled nylon and a thousand-year-old bell, in the same object.”

Discover · Create · Share · Impact
A special online lecture on August 9, 2026 introduced the Bell’s history, craftsmanship, sound, and Bicheon imagery.
Students and Round & Round translated the cultural research into a pouch keyring using recycled nylon from post-consumer waste.
Student interpretation, video, campaign graphics, packaging, and a ten-winner post-event campaign carry the story outward.
The learning, documentation, and support from this first project become material for the next school or community program.
Material outcome
The documented product uses recycled nylon made from post-consumer waste. Packaging-development references show Bell and Bicheon research moving into graphic layouts, dielines, and print tests.
